La Caze

So we all know how the blog community has opened our eyes to so many wonderful things that we could never have imagined.  I feel so very lucky to have greige connect me in so many ways to a great community of design minded people.  I was so excited when Angela and Renee contacted me while they were in California and I was even more excited to get a chance to meet with them and do my first official interview about greige and My Sparrow.  They are so super sweet and their accents are so fun!!!

Angela and Renee have created an amazing line of lighting and lanterns that I am loving named La Caze.   They make custom pieces in addition to their standard running line which is fantastic.  Here is a little about the girls and the place that they call home....

When living in South Louisiana, you can find inspiration around every corner. The diversity and history of Louisiana architecture, expansive gardens and timeless elements incorporated into interior design continually inspire us. We met at the ball field when our kids were playing T-ball and were so pleasantly surprised that there was indeed someone else as crazy as we were about interiors, architecture and gardens. From that point on, endless hours were spent in creative endeavors. As a creative outlet, we began designing, building and remodeling every chance we got. As time went on, we became business partners in LaCaze and co-founders of the blog. You never know what wonderful surprises are around the next corner in life. Come along the journey with us as we share our love of interior design and architecture. We hope you enjoy and are inspired, as we take a take a stroll under the Spanish moss.

It is just so wonderful to see where friendships can take us!

Check out my interview with them on their lovely blog Under Spanish Moss.

Paris Love.. guest post:Si from French by Design

While in Paris I thought it would be fun to have some of our fellow bloggers share their love for the city with us.  Si from French by Design will be in Paris for part of my visit as well!  We are hoping to meet up while we are there! Please enjoy her lovely recommendations for this amazing city...

Bonjour! This is Si from FrenchByDesign! I am a French girl living on the East coast USA and enjoying my expatriate life here… But of course, I miss France and my friends there, so poor me, I have to go back there often to recharge my batteries [and eat stinky cheese but that’s another post…]

Christina is headed to Paris, ah Paris, the City of Lights… Just the name makes me want to sing Edith Piaf’s “La vie en Rose”… Such a romantic place… I lived in Paris for 5 years when I was a student. There were great parts about life there, but as always you don’t enjoy things when you have them around all year. I probably walked by the Eiffel Tower a hundred times while living there and barely noticed the lady. Now, when I go visit Paris, my friends make fun of me because I literally stop and stare at her for a few minutes. They say I’m weird. But then again, they might be right…
So Christina, here is a piece of advice for you… If you want to look and behave like a true Parisian, don’t stare at Madame Eiffel. But do go visit her late at night and wait for the 20 000 lights to come off, around 2 AM, it's quite magical to say "bonne nuit" to the Eiffel Tower. Also, go get yourself an ice cream cone at Berthillon, my favorite ice cream shop in the city or a Nutella crepe made right in front of you Rue de Caumartin. And block a day to visit the Marais, my favorite quarter in Paris. Tiny paved streets with independent clothing designer shops or interior design concept stores. And of course, have a croissant every morning. Calories don’t count while you’re in Paris! Bon voyage!

Paris Love.. guest post: Sharon from My French Country Home

Sharon is so sweet and has so wonderfully opened her home to us when we are in France during this trip.  She is also sweet enough to share some of her favorites from Paris with you!

A big thank you to Christina for asking me to guest post for her while she ............ comes to visit me!!! YAY,
OK not only me, there is also that little detail called Paris, but I am so pleased to meet Christina and her family.

Christina has asked me about my special places in Paris.  I chose a place to live , a place to eat and a place to shop ....

Before we had any children we lived in the heart of St Germain on the magical Place Fustenberg, and this little square will always hold a special place in my heart.

Tiny,  perfectly situated, it has the sort of elite feel to it as if living there made you automatically part of some wonderful private club.

My favourite place to eat?  Of course there are SO many wonderful little bistrots and restaurants in Paris, I could actually provide a long list.  But my most memorable meal  was shared with my husband and our closest friends at La Méditerranée , fantastic setting, DIVINE food, romantic, elegant LOVE it.

And finally a special place to shop for .............. chocolates!

The amazing Debauve et Gallais, a 200 year old shop in Paris.  I don't know
which is more spectacular, the 'finesse' and flavour of the chocolates,
or the wonderful wonderful packaging.

I adore the perfect jewel like chocolates.  This is the only place I have ever
been offered food decorated with real gold leaf !!

Thank you Christina, I like to think that you may check out some of these addresses while you are in Paris this week!

Visiting France and a new friend...

I am so excited as my trip is coming up so quickly!!! Less than 4 weeks and I will be in France!!! (see all of the exclamation) I am traveling with my mom and my younger sister, which is so exciting to have a wonderful girlie trip! We have made arrangements to stay in an apartment in the 1st Arr., which I am hoping will make us feel like we have moved there even if it is only for a short time.

Shopping has started for the perfect shoes, sweaters, jeans, and anything else we can label with "trip" needs. Not that there won't be tons of shopping while we are there but a girl needs to be prepared to see the world, even if no one else is looking.

We have also scheduled a few days with Miss Sharon from My French Country Home, which I am over the moon about! Sharon is out in Normandy and has a wonderful weekend planned for us when we get to her home! After visiting Giverny, Sharon is picking us up for a little afternoon of shopping and dinner at her home which is sure to be AMAZING! We will be staying in her beautiful guest cottage.  The next morning bright and EARLY we will be going to the local Brocante Fairs to shop our little hearts out. We are finishing it all off with a picnic lunch.

Can you say perfection? If you are going to France and want a personalized wonderful experience you must contact her....I am calling her my new Best Friend (mostly because I am so jealous of her life that I must get closer to have a really good look at what I am missing!)  Not really I am very excited to have such a great opportunity to meet wonderful people all the time through the blogging community it is amazing what I had been missing all those years without it! I cannot wait to ask her all about her life, her garden and all things French.

I will do my very best to post more about our plans soon!

Help Charlie Heal

As a blogger I have the wonderful opportunity to help out a very loved member of our little blog community today!

Miss Sarah at La Maison Boheme gave birth to her son Charlie 8 Months ago today.  Charlie has had a challenging 8 months to say the least!  He was born with a condition called Craniosynostosis, which is when the skull bones fuse prematurely in the womb.  Charlie is getting ready for craniofacial surgery this summer to separate his fused skull.  The reason he needs the surgery is that his fused skull plates are blocking brain growth and can cause serious neurological damage if left untreated.

I hope that you will take a moment to help them in this time of need to help Charlie grow and live a wonderful life!

Please see their entire story here.

Take a moment to visit the Help Charlie Heal Etsy shop
and Blog  to see how you can help!

Wish List: Daniella from Dress, Design & Decor

I am very excited to welcome our final Guest blogger in the Wish List series Daniella from Dress, Design & Decor.  Her Blog always makes me so happy - it is so feminine and it is just down right beautiful!

Hello! Daniella here from Dress, Design & Decor. So happy to be here on Greige today sharing a few of my favorites things I'd love for Christmas, and a few things perfect for others on your list...

1. Kate Spade iPhone cover - How could you not be charmed by this adorable "rotary phone" cover for your iPhone? It's a perfect sweet & simple gift for one of your best girlfriends!

2. Archive Leather Boot - I love these riding boots from Madewell. I am in desperate need of a black boot, and I’m always on the lookout for the perfect riding style that's not too wide or clunky looking. They're classic and will last you a lifetime.

3. Flannel PJ’s - J.Crew and I have a problem. Mostly it's because they keep making pretty things and I’d like to buy them out. Most recently I’ve been coveting these classic plaid pjs in the softest flannel. Perfect for Christmas morning don't you think?

4. Chloé Perfume - I've been lusting after Chloé parfum for quite some time and I’m thinking I should pick up a pretty bottle of my own while the Christmas sales are on (if no one buys it for me first that is, lol).

5. Lilas Diptyque Candle - I absolutely love this candle with it's beautiful lilac scent. It reminds me of Spring and all things French.

6. Stadium Boulevard Trench - Love this classic piece, but in a warmer fabric for the Winter season, especially in the perfect shade of sandstone.

7. J.Crew Bracelets - J.Crew has SO many gorgeous bracelets that's it's hard to possibly pick just one! Crystal, pearls, silver, or gold... so many pretty choices and a perfect precious gift.

8. Mini Shopaholic - All of Sophie Kinsella's Shopaholic books are such fun reads, so I was super excited to hear she has another book out!

9. Pretty Pieces from Aerie - American Eagle's sister store Aerie is seriously the best place for pretty little girly pieces from pjs to the softest sweaters! I never really thought about Aerie till I wandered in a year or two ago, and now I love seeing what's new every time I wander by.

10. Dancing Dots Cardigan - I've been after this Madewell cardigan for a while now. Grey goes with everything, and the silver dots add a little bit of girly fun!
