In brightest day, in blackest night...

Hal Jordan? I guess so!

This is an absolutely enormous week for all you Green Lantern fans across sector 2814 (and beyond). Not only do we get the first issue of the greatest mega-event in the history of comics (really, if it is anything short of that, a lot of people are going to be disappointed) in Blackest Night #1, but we got our man.

Hal Jordan has been cast in the upcoming (think 2011) DC Comics mega-tentpole flick Green Lantern, and he will be played by none other than Van Wilder himself - Ryan Reynolds. While he's no Nathan Fillion (but who is really?), in terms of the names that were considered and all those they could have picked Reynolds is an out and out success. Hopefully he can tone the snark down a bit and channel it into other emotions, but I really think he can be a fantastic Hal.

Now if Martin Campbell can live up to the hype created by his wife and they can cast a few supporting roles with actors of Natalie Portman's talent (like Marvel did today for their upcoming Thor), we'll really be getting somewhere. Get excited comic book fans!

See our post at Multiversity Comics about this as well.
